How can innovation disrupt unemployment and create meaningful work for everyone? How can we create a strong middle class innovation economy? Consider this opportunity: less than half of all people in the OECD countries are in the work force. Only a third of them are engaged in their work. Less than a quarter of the US human capacity is creating value in the economy. Imagine if innovative entrepreneurs can use modern technology to tailor jobs for everyone like they today can tailor products and services to match every customer's taste. Imagine if they will match people's hidden abilities and passions with the most valuable hidden opportunities in a long-tail economy. If the work force can be increased to 100% of the population, with people doing things they like, an oversimplified guess suggests we will quadruple GDP. That is a fifty trillion dollar market in the US. But of course it's much more complicated than that. It will be a complete transformation of the economy. How can such an innovation economy look like? How can business, policy and education find joint interests and make it happen?
For a day and a half we will be bringing together inspiring people - leaders and creators from all across the ecosystem - business, government, education, the arts and elsewhere to discuss these and other questions. They will have different mindsets and come from different places. We will be mixing ideas about innovation, the future of education, jobs and anything else that is important for wellbeing.
